Too Much Music?

Okay so this topic actually came up a while ago between me and a co-worker, he said that there is way too much music out these days. I partially agree with that statement simply because there are way too many people doing music who really shouldn't and the ones who are doing music and are good at it are putting out
a lot of it. Okay so let's take your favorite Hip Hop artist and okay he puts out basically an album a year right? Now with that album he put out there usually is a mixtape that drops before it or he takes the songs that did not make the album and puts them over the course of a certain amount of weeks right? Now what does that do usually it takes the value away from the album itself because the more music a person had from an artist the less likely your to go to the store or iTunes to purchase the album in my book. Also if you putting out a album a year it kinda depreciates your value as an artist because after a while people start to be like oh another album what else does this guy have to talk about that we haven't heard on the last few albums. If you are a underground I think the rules are a bit different simply because your trying to build a fan base and simply you have more things to talk about because your really still going through the struggle of the music business. So in essence there will naturally be more music pushed out from a particular artist especially if your name is buzzing I.E. 2 Chaniz. Of course there will be pros and cons to the process or method of putting out music but do you think there is too much of it?
