The Boy Illinois Breaks Down Inhale Pt.4:Horai

I thought this was pretty dope not every artist takes time out and break down their project song by song this lets you know what he was going for and his mind state going into each song.

Horai: Three Greek Goddesses that controlled the seasons and natural order of time.
1. Happy Birthday
I get a call from Eunomia (The name of one of the three Greek goddesses) wishing me a happy birthday, but I don’t remember much since New Years Day.
2. January 4th
My birthday, and the start of the winter portion of the tape. It’s basically my introduction to you.
3. Black Ice
Black Ice to a thin coating of glazed ice on a surface. Another common occurrence of winter time. It’s hard to see but very slippery, and dangerous. I may not come off as such, but I’m a very slick and smooth individual, like black ice. Also, in the hook ‘Letric slide’ is just a short way to say ‘Electric slide’ which refers to the dance, but you also slide over black ice.
4. Leap Yer
Once every four years we have a leap year, and an extra day is added. Every once in a while you fall in love, and February is THE month of love and romance i.e. Valentines Day. Also, winter time is also seen as cuffing season. So the song tells a story about one falling in love during the cold season, but knowing that in the end when seasons change relationships do as well.
5. Right Around Spring
Inhale Pt. 3 had “Right Around Winter” and I enjoyed that record so much I made another one for a different season. This transitions the tape from winter to spring, all while declaring that a new regime is being ushered in. Which is why in the hook it goes “…that’s when I start to reign.” Also, spring is know for rain. You get the picture.
6. Yer
Yer is a catchy phrase I started using in college that I got from a couples of my homies. I coined the phrase and made it my trademark. Spring time is when baseball is starting up, so it’s grind time to get ready for the season. We grind as well and we’re trying to get baseball digits, because they don’t have a salary cap in baseball. No Limit!
7. Back Again
Spring is also a time rebirth, renewal and regrowth. Everything has a cycle and this is the time where everything that was dead or stagnant comes back again.
8. Baby Mother Nature
Mother Nature is baby moms and Life is the bitch I’ve been trying to get, but baby moms doesnt like that. So, she tries to stop me from doing me and living life to the fullest with all of her obstacles, bad weather, etc. I know a lot of people’s baby moms do the same thing so that’s why the title is so. But, in the end you’re going to have to comply because I won’t stop going after what my heart desires.
9. My Usual
First song of summer, plus the beat sounded like an early summer morning. This song is just going through my usual activities and thoughts.
10. Chevy Equiknocks
Old School Chevy’s are big in Chicago during the summer time, and usually they have systems in the trunk that KNOCK! The intro in the beginning is from Bump J’s “Chevy Fresh Out” and him being a big influence on my rap career…I had to pay homage.
11. 40s
This song was named after the Chicago Dance, but it can also mean a lot of different things. 40 ounces, 40 calibers, etc.
12. Can’t Let You Fall
This is the start of the fall season and also the end of a love story (Leap Yer and this song go together). Basically explaining why you can’t let this girl fall in love with you. At the end of the song you hear me singing Wyclef’s “Gone Till November.” I’m a big fan of his music, he’s Haitian, and November is in the fall season.
13. Carpe Denim
Capre DIEM means to “Seize the day!” But, in this case the title was a play on words and I want to seize your attention with my fashion so you can hear what I have to say. Fall Fashion is one of the best times for fashion in my opinion. The term used in the song speaks on more than just clothing…I want to see the government collapse in fall fashion. With Muburak out, and Gaddafi dead, why can’t we replace the power as well?
14. All I’s On Me
A very Pac inspired, self explanatory record. Just listen. And, this ends the fall season.
15. A Lil Bit Off
This song represents New Years Eve.
16. A Lil Bit Off Pt. 2
This song represents New Years Day. A celebration! If you let the record go back to the phone call in the beginning…you will notice that I say  don’t remember much since the 1st or new years. Which makes the project a never ending cycle.
